Quirky Wedding Ideas
This weekend I took my lovely friend, Roo (also known as Rachel) and headed off to A Most Curious Wedding Fair – the self proclaimed ‘wedding show for the style savvy couple’ held at the trendy Old Truman Brewery.
Now, I don’t know if I’d called us a style savvy couple, but I do know that conventional wedding fairs weren’t for me and this time I wasn’t a networking wedding photographer, this time I was a bride to be. Eeek!
A lot of wedding fairs seem to have a huge abundance of photographers – I’m SO pleased to say there was a perfect ratio of photographers at Most Curious – including my very own wedding photographer, so maybe we are a stylish couple after all…
The first things you notice as you walk into ‘Most Curious’ – are how friendly the girls on the door are – we felt instantly welcomed. As you turn to face the big warehouse space you’re hit by the bright colours filling the room – my bridey senses instantly pricked up!
There were way too many talented creative suppliers in one room to talk about them all – so I’ll give you a quick whistle stop tour of some of my favourites…
Pop Pop Papier – ALL OF THE COLOURS!
Balloons – check, paper garlands – check, confetti – check! I want their paper decs at my hen do and preeetty much any party I have ever again. They create hand made paper goodness, coupled with shiny foil balloons – perfect for a colourful photo booth back drop at your wedding. Their decorations would look great as a ceremony back drop too – just think of the first kiss photos against a scene like this…
I’ve never seen flowers quite like this, team Frog transformed the Wedding Fair into a work of art. Pure art. Beautiful bursts of bright pink filled the room, creating stunning backdrops for photos. I am in total awe of the skill these guys have, I have a complete new respect for wedding flowers. HINT: Combine these amazing blooms with brilliant hot pink neon from The Curious Collection…
The Curious Collection
I fell in love neon hard this weekend. The curious collection has a quirky array of props for hire – my favourite being their amazing ‘Keep Lovin’ neon hoop, oh and the their neon heart aaaand their retro cocktail sign – HELLO Tom Cruise! Can I have them all please?
I’m a big fan of cake. Huge infact. We stopped at Lucie’s stand – drawn in by the beautiful colours and natural feel to the cakes. Then we get a taste… a delicious sponge laced with berries and I was in heaven. Wedding cakes are something I’ve been a little stuck with recently, feeling uninspired by everything I’ve seen. But meeting Lucie fired up my tastebuds and imagination and I’ve definitely got a much clearer idea now, its such a shame we’ll be getting married half way across the country from Lucie’s delicious creations!
Tilly Thomas Lux
Walking past Tilly Thomas Lux, my eyes cottoned on to a little something shiny… a stunning gold floral hair piece.
The lovely ladies on the stall were offering to create a quick hair style to help you see how their pieces look – I got to try on three stunning gold hair pieces, all of which I of course fell in love with. I’m struggling between these two beauties…
I sadly missed both of the cat walk shows, so I didn’t get to see many of the wedding dresses on offer and I kinda found it hard to see some of the ones on the stalls because of how they sat on the racks. But I loved how welcoming everyone was, there were absolutely no judgments and every kind of bride there and full of quirky wedding ideas for the non-traditional bride.
Tips for the fair:
– take a snack or fill your belly before hand – there’s not much food if any on offer.
– take a bag to carry all the business cards you pick up along the way.
– start following your fave finds on Instagram for even more inspiration
