When Tessa and Steve asked me to do their wedding photography… in castle…in Devon…I couldn’t resist! I work all over the UK, but this was a very special treat. Despite working around four thunderstorms on the day the light was beautiful and we got some amazing atmospheric shots, especially during the bride and groom portrait photos. Bickleigh Castle certainly didn’t disappoint with places to photograph, full of gorgeous textures which I’m always drawn to throughout my photography.
I love the morning bridal prep photos and I think these shots really show why. You get such a great atmosphere between the bride, her mum and her bridesmaids, watching them laugh, cry and share these little special moments while their hair and make up is done makes this one of my favourite parts of the day. It also gave me time to get some great shots of Tessa’s wedding dress and shoes – which she had custom made and they look stunning.
To top off a wedding in a castle they hired a bouncy castle, fun for the big and small kids! Their guests loved it and we got some outrageously funny photos, of course I asked both Tessa and Steve to take to the castle too… (try and stop them!)
However my absolute favourite photo from the day is very much a candid shot of Tessa & Steve walking away from me, the light was perfect as a sun beam hit them at the right moment through the shadow, it was one of those perfect moments of light and dark.
