Finding your colours - picking the right outfit for your photoshoot.
Last year I had a fantastic colour session with Hazel from Creative Colours, a personal stylist in Lincoln to discover which colours suited me best. I’d recently given birth to Grace, my youngest and was feeling a little lost with my identity.
It might sound simple but knowing what colours suited me transformed the way I shopped and looked at clothes overnight. I always found picking clothes intimidating & overwhelming, but since my session I can quickly spot which colours I can wear and I literally ignore half the shop!
Knowing your colours is a valuable skill when choosing an outfit to wear for any photoshoot so I teamed up with Hazel to explain why…
Colour Me Happy, by Hazel - Creative Colours
You have 7 seconds to make one first impression, so make it count. It can affect your mood, in wearing different shades. Colour always makes me personally happy. For myself, I am a pink, purple and blue kind of girl, these colours make me feel alive.
Pink means feminine, good health and a very romantic colour. Expression - “ Everything is rosy”. Purple means, power and ambition, also royalty. Blue means inspiration, sensitivity and is a calming colour.
Do you know the meaning of your favourite colours?
Colour Analysis is a great personal styling service to anyone requiring help and advice on what colours suit them. I talk greatly on tonal colours, which is very important throughout the analysis.
You will find out the colours that suit you, the colours to avoid and also how to block colours together within patterns and textures too. Jewellery tones are also included and makeup tips.
Lifestyle is such a huge factor when your dressing. You don’t have to be going to a big social event to get dressed up and to be at your best.
Self care is huge, even little steps like lipstick, a scarf, or a pair of earrings can bring colour into your outfit to make you look and feel more radiant. Wearing the correct neutrals and colours will even out out your skin tone and make your eyes pop. If you’re wearing the correct tonal shades, we would see you, instead of seeing your garment first.
Adding colour can be a transformation. Showing who the REAL you is. Wearing the wrong colours, can make us look grey, cast shadows to the face, accentuate lines and blemishes. Our complexion will look dull, could age the face.
Your wardrobe should reflect on your lifestyle and personality, and your colouring.
If you’re in need of some help with your personal style I can highly recommend getting in touch with Hazel.
